PUTRAJAYA: The government plans to do away with certificate of fitness requirement for all new building and the Housing and Local Government Ministry has been directed to prepare a Cabinet paper on the matter.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said in place of CF, all the professionals involved in a project would be required to sign declaration certifying that the building involved was built according to the safety requirements and specification.
"However, those professionals must make sure that their declarations are correct or they will be severely punished under the law," he told reporters after chairing the meeting of ministries’ secretaries-general at the Prime Minister’s Department.
