The public will soon be able to gain access to updated information on the property market when the computerised system for the National Property Information Centre (Napic) is ready, said Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Chan Kong Choy.
Chan said Napic’s new computerised system, which would cost RM20mil, was expected to be ready by the middle of next year.
''The public will be able to access any information on industrial players and leaders in the construction and building sectors collected by Napic for dissemination,'' he said in a speech read by the ministry’s parliamentary secretary Hashim Ismail at the opening of the Malaysian Annual Real Estate Convention here yesterday.
In addition, Chan said, the Government would set up a National Property Research Centre to ensure that property-based research was properly coordinated.
''Information and knowledge from the research can help correct anomalies and reduce wastage in the industry,'' he said.
